J.A. Jance returns
to The Well Red Coyote with a new book!
Thursday, August 5, noon:
From popular Arizona author, J.A. Jance,
comes a new book, QUEEN OF THE NIGHT.
This interrelated thriller, involving members of the Walker family,
last seen in her novel, DAY OF THE DEAD.
It involves two murders committed generations apart, which resonate
through three separate families, threatening to destroy them.
Dedicated to the late Tony Hillerman, J.A. Jance's brilliant fourth
suspense novel featuring former homicide detective Brandon Walker
and his wife, novelist Diana Ladd spans some 50 years, from a murder
in 1959 in San Diego to a rash of killings in Thousand Oaks, Calif.,
and Tucson, Ariz., in 2009. Interwoven with these crimes are legends
of the Tohono O'odham Indians (aka the Desert People) and the lives
of such contemporary Native people as Lani Walker, Brandon and Diana's
adopted daughter. Jance's masterful handling of a complex cast of
characters makes it easy for the reader to appreciate the intricate
web of relationships that bind them across generations. The title
refers to the night-blooming Cereus, a desert plant that blooms once
a year and is of great symbolic importance to the Tohono.
Publishers Weekly gave QUEEN OF THE NIGHT
a coveted starred review and wrote: “Brilliant....Jance...has
crafted a mystery that Hillerman would be proud of and that her fans
will love.”
Told early on by both an abusive, alcoholic husband and a creative
writing instructor who believed women couldn’t write, that she
couldn’t be a writer — Jance went on to achieve extraordinary
success as a NY Times Bestselling author, writing alraedy three popular
series, the J.P. Beaumont, Joanna Brady, Ali Reynolds series, as well
as standalones, and now the Walker thriller series.
NOTE: MS. JANCE WILL ONLY BE SIGNING BOOKS SOLD AT THE WELL RED COYOTE
AT THIS SIGNING. ATTENDEES WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO BRING IN BOOKS
SOLD AT OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING. |
